Owen Roth led investigation that resulted in charges against 48 defendants for drug trafficking and money laundering

Before joining the firm, Partner Owen Roth spent nearly a decade as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of California, where he handled some of the office’s most complex, multi-agency investigations. Among them was a long-term OCDETF investigation into a large trafficking organization operating across the Imperial Valley and the border region — the kind of intricate, wiretap-driven case that can take years to build.

In November 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the results of that effort: five indictments and a coordinated takedown involving well over a hundred officers across multiple states, following an investigation that drew on undercover work, court-authorized wiretaps, and controlled operations. Owen was one of the two Assistant U.S. Attorneys who prosecuted the case — work that reflects the caliber of federal matter he handled during his tenure in the Justice Department.

That experience — building and trying the government’s most demanding federal cases from the inside — is precisely what he now brings to clients facing serious federal exposure.
